The Twenty-second Day of Christmas Music: Fairytale in New York

Tonight is the Somethingth Annual Chicken Biscuits Celebration amongst my lady friends, where we eat Chicken Biscuits and cake, drink wine, exchange presents, laugh and tell stories, and possibly play Pixar Monopoly. We’ve been doing this for several years now and is become something that we all plan weeks out, look forward to for months, and talk about when it is over.

So perhaps it’s bad planning on my part, but today’s song is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues. It is a remarkably depressing song wrapped up in a festive Irish bow. And yet I love it, it is one of my year-round favorites.
