This weekend some dear friends came to visit. They were vacationing in Burlington, doing some leaf peeping, and spent a few days with me at the end of their trip. The first full day they were here, we went to Walden Pond, where Thoreau lived (in a tinyhouse!) and wrote for two years. The day was lovely and the park was packed: tourists, locals walking their dogs, and hardy New Englanders out for a swim (seriously – we passed one gentleman saying that the water was “not freezing – my face wasn’t numb!”). I’d like to explore the park further on a less busy day but it was nonetheless beautiful.

Zach, thanks for letting me use these images!
